Welcome to Ed Ladd and John Dillard's in Corpus Christi
(Please note: Placing the cursor over a picture gives you some info on it....)
This month Ed Ladd and John Dillard hosted our society meeting at their house in Corpus Christi. Ed and John have been working
diligently on their yard, building up beds and working some changes into the garden. As always the garden was in excellent shape and
looking very tropical.
As members gathered, many stayed out front looking at the large Royal, Queen and
Butia palms. Ed also has a very nice Chamaerops and
Sabal out front. Soon, Renata from Markum showed up with her trailer full of
Sabal palms. She and her daughter have been growing
these palms since 1999 and they literally have a thousand to sell. As members arrived, they continued to congregate at the trailer and
chose the palms they wanted to purchase.
Soon we all went in and starting eating the wonderful meal made for us. Also enjoying all the side dishes and desserts
that members brought. After our meal, we had a society meeting covering a treasury report, future meetings, the need for
bulletin articles and the possibility of producing the bulletin only three times a year. We also viewed pictures of the recent
trip to Dial Dunkin's place in Mexico. The society will present a plaque to him in appreciation of his hospitality. After the meeting,
folks continued to socialize and enjoy the wonderful November afternoon. We look forward to seeing you next month at the annual Christmas
party.
