On November 14, approximately 50 PSST members and guests gathered at the home of Bob and Sandra Tumberlinson on a beautiful resaca in San Benito. The large yard was beautifully landscaped with many palms and other tropical plants. The weather was perfect for an outdoor meeting. Our generous hosts provided a delicious Mexican lunch, followed by a huge array of desserts that were brought by members.
After everyone was sufficiently filled with food, Suzie Watson conducted a brief business meeting in the absence of her husband, Chairman Jon. This was immediately followed by our traditional fall auction, which was conducted by Richard Travis, Luke Oliver, and Clay Fischer. The many palms and other tropical plants made for a very successful auction. The members present voted to donate 10% of the proceeds to Sunshine Haven, a non-profit special care facility in Olmito. PSST member Charlene Rowles is the executive director of this facility, which was having its annual fund-raiser the following day.
After touring the yard again, along with visiting with one another, the happy plant recipients began their journey home.
Our next meeting will be the annual Christmas party on December 12 at the home of Romeo and Linda Montalvo in Brownsville.
Our next meeting will be in Brownsville on 12 Dec 09 . Look forward to seeing you at one of the up coming meetings.
